During our time together, we worked in consultation with Creative Director Karen Vanderborght and team to explore various ways of understanding city planning, design, and process to help develop the first stages of a prototype for Nuville,  a “real world augmented audio game that turns your urban walk into a sci-fi adventure game where you wonder as you wander to reclaim your city from the builder’s AI.”

In addition, we talked about the ‘intangibles’, those characteristics that give character to the city, including the ideas, the general believes, the principles that provide a sense of place

-The ‘manifestos’ that overtime have influenced the city shape

-The role of technology in the contemporary city.

– Public Consultation as a tool of dialogue between city official and citizens. We look different ways in which the process can be more engaging to overcome feelings of mistrust and tiredness in the community, by using art as a mediator and consultation as a game.

– The role of aesthetic pleasure in the city. From beautification for crime prevention to economic

benefit and social cohesion.

– What are the mechanisms that can create community benefits in the city By‐laws. From

‘inclusionary zoning’ and density bonuses to CBC (Community Benefits Charges) to developers.

What are the mechanism in the city by‐laws to re‐distribute wealth.

And much more…..
