“Time is the substance from which I am made. Time is a river which carries me along, but I am the river; it is a tiger that devours me, but I am the tiger; it is a fire that consumes me, but I am the fire.”

THESIS PROJECT
Feeling Time is an installation that explores the construction and destruction of the self through time and its impact on human sensibility and psyche. The installation captures the viewer’s own reflection and combined with a mix of video projections and reflective surfaces it creates a situation where the viewer is in itself the subject of the experience, exploring memory and the perception of time.
It explores the idea of memory / time perception. It is based on the premise that remembering our past and having consciousness of the future, of death and its inevitability, is the necessary requirement for maintaining the wholeness of the self; providing a sense of purpose and meaning to life.
Abnegation of history, identity, the erasure of one possible future or the incapacity to feel implies losing the understanding that we have of the world and of our relationship with it. In other words, we lose our sense of self.
